Understanding Custom Staircase Fabrication & Repair
From exterior steel stairs to interior feature staircases, we fabricate with precise measurements and repair existing stairs that have cracked or loosened. Knowing what goes into the work helps you plan, budget, and get the most out of every visit.
Warning Signs You Should Not Ignore
Visible cracks spreading from a weld or bolt hole, flexing or movement under load, rust bleeding through seams, loose or wobbling connections, and new noises during operation are all signs that metal is fatiguing. Catching them early usually means a faster, simpler repair.
How to Prepare for Your Appointment
Clear a safe working area around the damaged section, move fuel, chemicals, and anything flammable away from the work zone, and have the equipment parked on level ground if possible. Photos sent ahead of time through our quote form help Billy bring the right materials and filler.
Choosing the Right Process
MIG, TIG, and stick welding each have strengths. Thicker structural steel often calls for stick or MIG for strong penetration, while aluminum and stainless benefit from the control of TIG. The right choice depends on the metal, thickness, position, and how the part is used.
Repair or Replace?
Many parts that look finished can be repaired and reinforced for a fraction of replacement cost. When a part is too worn or the base metal is compromised, fabricating a new section can be the smarter long term move. An experienced welder will tell you honestly which makes sense.
What It Costs
Our rate is $200 for the first hour and $120 for each additional hour with a 2 hour minimum. Drive time is billed from the moment we head your way. Fabrication projects require material costs plus a small deposit upfront. We accept Cash, Check, Zelle, Venmo.
Keeping It Strong After the Repair
Inspect the repaired area regularly, keep it painted or coated to prevent rust, and avoid overloading beyond what the part was designed for. If anything looks off soon after a repair, call us. If a weld fails right away because of our workmanship, we fix it free.
